The woods that make the difference

Wood, the easiest material

to work with, arrived very early in 

Laguiole. Traditional makers wood 

use local woods only, of course.

Today, creativity and high design

are facilitated by the use  of 

precious and exotic woods, sometimes

in delicate marquetry. These products

bear visual witness to the perfect 

marriage between steel, brass, and

wood...

Rosewood, a member of the 

palissander family, normally 

found in Brasil

Buis, Boxwood, a beautiful light

and fine grained wood, found all over

Europe. Mountain trees are the best.

Olivewood, found all over France, has

a particular appeal, in its deep brown

tones, a romantic reminder of our

beautiful French landscapes.

Ebony, African wood, of which the

most desirable species come from

Madagascar.

Amourette (snake) wood and Spotted

Lettre, come from Surinam and Guyana

reminder of French Colonial times.
